PRESS RELEASE

Sat. 14th. January 2006, 4 pm.

Due to technical problems with the freezing system in the Viking Ship the ISUs Technical Delegates and the Championships’ referees decided to postpone the men’s 5K. The decision was taken during a team leaders meeting, and announced at 3.30 pm.  The problems were discovered at 1.30 pm on Saturday, but the woman’s 3K was organised under equal conditions.

The technical staff at the Viking Ship are working to solve the problem. There will be a new team leader’s meeting at 5. pm, and the option is to start the men’s 5 K at 6 pm. If this proves impossible, new attempts will be made to run the 5K at 8pm or even later.

Bjørn Ruud
Head of the Organising Committee

Welcome to Hamar!

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I want to welcome skaters, leaders and support network to Hamar and Vikingskipet to join the European Speed Skating Championships 2006.

We have done our utmost through the preparation period to provide equal conditions for all skaters.
We therefore strongly believe in good results.

We also hope that music and other happenings taking place in Vikingskipet during the weekend will create a great atmosphere and contribute to a memorable experience.

And once again – welcome – good luck – and I hope the best skaters turn out winners !

Sincerely,

Bjørn Ruud
Chairman
Organizing Committee
